Poem by Brodie McLaughlin, Bankhead Primary School

Our World, Our Future, Our Decision

Once upon a time the world was presented as a gift,
with vibrant trees, healthy animals, thriving.
But we’ve taken it for granted,
a world crumbling in the palm of our hands.
We must edit the future before it is irreversible,
and it disintegrates into…
disaster.

We the youth of the world, must rewrite our future chapter
And it must be a joint effort
Animals will thrive, flowers will bloom, children will play and the world will be beautiful
How will the story end?
That is our choice
If we want our happy, fairy-tale ending.
Our future, our world, our decision.
